Easy Air Fryer Tostones (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 medium-sized green plantains.
02 - 4 cups water, kept cold.
03 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
04 - 1 tablespoon of kosher salt.
05 - A cup of mayonnaise.
06 - Neutral oil, 3 tablespoons.
07 - 1/4 cup of ketchup.
08 - Coarse finishing salt.

# Instructions:

01 - Combine the mayo, garlic powder, and ketchup in a bowl. Chill it in the fridge until you're ready to use.
02 - Slice into 1 1/2 inch pieces after peeling and scoring the plantains. Let the chunks soak in salted water for 20 minutes.
03 - Dry off the plantains, coat them in oil, and air fry at 350°F. Cook for 3 to 6 minutes on each side until soft.
04 - Flatten the cooked plantains to about 1/4 inch thick using a flat item or tostonera.
05 - Brush the smashed plantains with oil and air fry at 400°F for 3 minutes. Flip them, oil again, and cook for another 4 minutes.
06 - Sprinkle with some coarse salt and enjoy them warm alongside the dipping sauce.

# Notes:

01 - The dipping sauce stays good in the fridge for 2 days.
02 - Work in smaller batches if necessary.
03 - They taste best right after cooking.
