Sparkle Sweetheart Valentine Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 3 cups (375g) plain flour
02 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
03 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
05 - 2 ounces (57g) thick cream cheese, softened
06 - 1 cup (200g) white sugar
07 - 1 large egg, not cold
08 - 2 teaspoons natural vanilla extract
09 - 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

→ Topping

10 - 3/4 cup (150g) red and pink colored sugar
11 - 32 chocolate hearts, taken out of wrappers

# Instructions:

01 - Stir flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl. Put aside for later.
02 - Mix butter with cream cheese till blended well. Toss in sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and flavor extracts. Fold in your dry mix until everything comes together.
03 - Wrap the dough and stick it in the fridge for 30-60 minutes. For longer cooling, let it warm up about 30 minutes before you start working with it.
04 - Turn oven on to 350°F. Put parchment on cookie sheets. Dump colored sugar into a small dish.
05 - Take 1-tablespoon balls of dough and roll in the colored sugar. Put them on trays and press down a bit. Cook for 12-13 minutes.
06 - Push a chocolate heart into each hot cookie right away. Cool in fridge briefly to harden the chocolate. Let cool all the way before eating.

# Notes:

01 - You'll need to cool the dough at least 30 minutes
02 - You can make and freeze these ahead of time
03 - Skip the almond flavor if you want, but it's really good
04 - They'll stay fresh for a week if kept in a container
