Velvet Chocolate Valentine Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 1 2/3 cups (210g) plain flour
02 - 1/4 cup (21g) unsweetened cocoa powder
03 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
04 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
05 - 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temp
06 - 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed down
07 - 1/4 cup (50g) white sugar
08 - 1 large egg at room temperature
09 - 1 tablespoon regular milk or buttermilk
10 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
11 - 3/4 teaspoon red gel food coloring

→ Decoration

12 - 8 ounces (226g) white chocolate, chopped roughly
13 - 2-3 tablespoons colorful sprinkles

# Instructions:

01 - Grab a bowl and stir flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt together until mixed.
02 - Use your mixer to whip butter with both sugars until fluffy. Drop in the egg and vanilla, then blend till smooth.
03 - Add your dry mix along with milk and red coloring. Stir until everything's incorporated. Pop dough in fridge for at least 2 hours.
04 - Shape dough into 1.5 tablespoon balls. Stick them in a 350°F oven for 11-13 minutes until the edges harden.
05 - Warm up white chocolate in short 15-second bursts. Take your cooled cookies and dunk halfway, then add sprinkles right away.
06 - Leave cookies out to harden or put them in the fridge to speed things up before you eat them.

# Notes:

01 - You can't skip the chilling time
02 - Go for actual white chocolate bars instead of chips for better melting
03 - Try using beet powder if you want natural coloring
04 - They'll stay good for 3 days if kept at room temp
